As many of you may know, BloodnFire has been involved in the disaster relief efforts in Bastrop, where fires have destroyed at least 1554 homes. We have been working in partnership with Somebody Cares America, as we come along side local churches in the area hit so hard by the fires. Things have been transitioning quickly as the neighborhoods have begun to open for the first time since the fires brought their devastation. By the end of this week all areas that were evacuated will be opened for families to begin sifting through their ruins and think of rebuilding. Last week we were able to bring in some aid and help distribution. Monday I spent the day working with local pastors as the efforts move from first-response to rebuilding. We’re putting together a plan where people can come and help, as well as give toward the rebuilding effort. This is a very different type of disaster; with a hurricane or tornado you have a some hope of finding some of your possessions scattered about. Fires spare very little. The fires that raged in Bastrop made homes there just a pile of ashes. So, when you begin the process of rebuilding, the first step will be literally sifting through the ashes, in hopes of finding even a piece of a family treasure not incinerated by the fires. Sifting is their only hope of recovering any items. We were able to meet with the County Judge, Sherriff, and County Commissioner and present them with a plan. They all approved and said they would support the efforts of the faith community, and of BloodnFire Ministries. Today we will go to our first house and see what this process of “sifting through the ashes” is all about. At least 6 Pastors lost their homes as well as one church building. Pastor Phil Woods, who lost his home, is the first home-site will begin sifting through. Pastor Mike Vega also lost his home and his church building. They do not have insurance. Our help is needed, YOUR help is needed, to do what we can to help these pastors get their lives, homes and churches restored. We have chosen these two Pastors and their congregations as the focus our efforts and invite you to join us on the journey. WAYS YOU CAN HELP: Send volunteers to assist. Contact us and we will give you local contact information and instructions on what you need to do. Give money that will be used to buy tools and materials to help in the clean up and rebuilding process. Pray for the people of Bastrop and the volunteers coming in to work. You can give through our website via paypal or send checks to BloodnFire Ministries, 21519 Tenore, San Antonio, Tx 78259. You can call, text or email me, Mark Roye, at 210-274-6545 or bnfsa@satx.rr.com . All gifts are tax deductable. Thank you for your support as we seek to help those in need, our neighbors, in a time...
